New Delhi. In the fifth and final match of the T20 series being played between India and England, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bowl first. In this last match of the series, the Indian team management made two major changes in the team keeping in mind the future preparations. The biggest and shocking decision was to drop Bihar’s 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi from the playing-11, in whose place experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson returned to the team. Apart from this, all-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been included in place of Washington Sundar.
In this series, everyone’s eyes were fixed on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. He is being considered the next big star of Indian cricket, but in front of the pressure of international cricket and the strong bowling attack of England, he could not perform as expected.

Despite getting consecutive chances in the initial matches of the series, Vaibhav failed to show his bat power. He could not cross the 15-run mark even once in his first three matches. Due to continued poor form and failure to give a solid start, the team management ultimately had to take the tough decision of dropping him from the playing-11 for the final T20. However, cricket pundits believe that getting international level experience at such a young age will prove to be a big turning point for Vaibhav’s career.
Sanju Samson’s return and Shreyas Iyer’s masterstroke
Sanju Samson, who was included in the team in place of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, will have a great opportunity to prove himself in this match. Samson’s aggressive batting and experience of playing in the middle or top order will provide depth to the Indian team. At the time of the toss, captain Shreyas Iyer talked in detail about this change and his decision. Iyer said, ‘We are going to bowl first today. Considering the way we have bowled in the last few matches, this decision seems right. I think we have experienced almost every situation in this series. Today’s conditions are a bit windy and considering the weather, as per our discussion before the match, not much change is expected in the wicket. That’s why we chose fielding first.
Arriving late on the field had no impact on the team
Just before the match, a strange incident happened with the Indian team. There was a slight delay in the team bus reaching the ground, which was seen as a ‘hiccup’. When Shreyas Iyer was asked whether this delay had any impact on the team’s preparations or mental state, he gave a very positive answer. Iyer said, ‘It is not so at all. Personally, I feel that we have faced almost every kind of challenges in this series and the previous series played. This is a new day and a new challenge for us. We are fully prepared for this challenge and overall this is a great opportunity for us.
India’s playing XI for the fifth T20 match: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan (wicketkeeper), Shreyas Iyer (captain), Tilak Verma, Shivam Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
