The captain’s lost confidence returned after the victory in Zimbabwe, Vaibhav composed ballads in praise of Suryavanshi, ‘- He knows about the situation here’

New Delhi. Captain Shreyas Iyer is very happy after the victory over Zimbabwe. He has said that his lost confidence has returned with this victory. After the sharp bowling of fast bowlers Mayank Yadav and Prince Yadav, with the stormy half-century of Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India defeated Zimbabwe by 7 wickets in the first T20 match and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing Zimbabwe’s target of 126 runs, India registered an easy victory by scoring 126 runs for three wickets in 13.2 overs with the innings of Suryavanshi (50 runs, 19 balls, four sixes, four fours) and Ishan Kishan (35 runs, 24 balls, three fours, two sixes). Captain Shreyas Iyer also scored unbeaten 28 runs.

Shreyas Iyer praised his bowlers for taking advantage of the conditions in Harare and said that the impressive win over Zimbabwe in the first T20 International will give his team the necessary confidence for the remaining matches of the series. Iyer described this performance as the effort of the entire team, although he admitted that batting was not entirely easy.

After the match, Iyer said, ‘I think the boys played tremendously. I am very happy with my first victory. There was bounce from good length and it was uneven. I thought it was the same in both innings. The start given by Mayank was very good. Shreyas came here after losing the series against Ireland and England under his captaincy.

The captain said that India will benefit from this excellent start because two more matches are to be played on the same ground. He said, ‘We are going to play two more matches here, so today’s performance has given everyone some confidence.’ Iyer also supported young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and said that knowing the situation will benefit the young player.

He said, ‘Vaibhav has played here. He had scored 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final, so he knows the conditions here. 15-year-old Indian batsman Suryavanshi became the youngest player in the world to score a half-century in men’s international cricket. He achieved this milestone in just 18 balls.

Earlier, India restricted Zimbabwe to 125 runs for seven wickets with the sharp bowling of Mayank (two wickets for 18 runs) and Prince (two wickets for 19 runs). Ravi Bishnoi and Shivam Dubey took one wicket each. Zimbabwe had lost five wickets for 64 runs in the 14th over, after which Wesley Madhevere (39 runs, 34 balls, three fours, one six) and Tadivanashe Marumani (27 not out, 20 balls, two fours, one six) made a partnership of 58 runs for the sixth wicket, taking the team to a respectable score.

Suryavanshi gave a stormy start to India while chasing the target. Suryavanshi showed his prowess with two sixes and a four on consecutive balls of Richard Ngarava. Blessing Muzarabani (2 wickets for 26 runs) gave initial success to Zimbabwe by getting Abhishek Sharma (01) caught by Brad Evans. Suryavanshi hit a four and a six on consecutive balls of Evans while Muzarabani hit two fours and a six and completed half-century of India’s runs in the fifth over.

Kishan took India’s score to 66 runs for one wicket in the power play with three fours off Newman Nayamahuri. Suryavanshi completed her first international half-century in 18 balls with one run off Ngarava.
