In such a situation, keeping in mind the health of children, state governments and education departments have started announcing school holidays. Holidays have already started in some states, while in many places schools are going to be closed in the coming days.
School schedule changed due to heat
Due to the scorching heat this year, changes in school timings and holidays are being announced rapidly. In view of the rising temperatures and heatwaves, governments are giving priority to the safety of children. In many places, schools have either been completely closed or the timings have been shifted to the morning so that children can be protected from heat and strong sunlight.
Announcement of long holidays in Delhi
The Directorate of Education in the capital Delhi has made it clear that the summer holidays of schools will start from May 11 and will continue till June 30. After this long holiday of about 50 days, schools will reopen from July 1. In view of the continuously rising temperatures, this decision has been taken so that children can be kept safe.
Schedule of Uttar Pradesh and surrounding states
According to the Basic Education Council in Uttar Pradesh, there will be holidays in government schools from May 20 to June 15, while private schools can adopt different schedules as per their own.
In Bihar, schools will remain closed from June 1 to June 20. In Haryana, there will be summer vacation from June 1 to June 30. In Rajasthan, holidays have been declared from May 17 to June 20 and in Punjab, schools are going to remain closed during May and June, although there may be a slight difference in the dates there.

Holidays started earlier in West Bengal and Odisha
In view of the heat, holidays have already been started in many districts of West Bengal. However, due to the relatively cold weather in hilly areas like Darjeeling and Kalimpong, a different schedule is applicable there. At the same time, the Odisha government also decided to close the schools from April 27, which is earlier than the normal time. This step was taken to protect the children from the scorching heat.
Strictness and holidays in the states of South India
School holidays have been declared in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh from 24 April to 11 June. The special thing is that Andhra Pradesh government has warned private schools not to run any kind of classes during holidays, otherwise strict action can be taken. Whereas in Chhattisgarh, schools will remain closed from April 20 to June 15, although the presence of teachers may be necessary during this period.
In some states and cities, instead of giving complete holidays, school timings have been changed. In Maharashtra, Jharkhand and many areas of NCR like Noida and Ghaziabad, schools are running from 7 am to 12 noon. The purpose of this change is to protect children from the scorching heat of the afternoon.
