Starlink India has got the license
Starlink has got the license to operate in India. Indian National Space Authorization and Promotion Center (IN-SPACe) has given this license. With this license the company will be able to use the capacity of its Starlink Gen1 constellation over Indian territory. This license will remain valid for 5 years. This company, owned by American billionaire Elon Musk, had also shown a demo of its service in Mumbai on 30 and 31 October last year. Starlink has also hired employees for its India headquarters in Bengaluru.
How much can Starlink connection cost in India?
It is being speculated that to get a Starlink connection, a customer in India may have to pay a one-time setup cost of Rs 30,000-35,000. After this, you may have to pay Rs 3,500-8,000 for the monthly plan. Its speed is estimated to be between 25-225Mbps.
What's the problem?
Starlink is in talks with the government to launch its service in India. According to reports, there is a problem regarding spectrum allocation and spectrum price. This matter is currently with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). After getting the green signal from here, the way for launching Starlink service in India will be opened.
