Shreyas Iyer has a shameful record, Ireland forced him to hide his face

Ireland Wins Series: Shreyas Iyer is not going to forget the T20 series played against Ireland for the rest of his life. As a captain, he went on a foreign tour for the first time and made a clean sweep against the underestimated team. Ireland won the two-match T20 series from India 2-0.
Shreyas Iyer becomes the first Indian captain to lose a T20 series against Ireland
New Delhi. The ICC T20 World Cup champion team suffered a defeat in the very first series after winning the tournament, which Indian fans will never forget. The selectors removed Suryakumar Yadav from the captaincy and gave the command of the team to Shreyas Iyer but his beginning as captain was such which is shameful. Team India got a clean sweep in the 2-match T20 series against a team considered light like Ireland.
Shreyaar Iyer captained the two-match T20I series against Ireland. The team had to face defeat in both the matches. Iyer had a bitter experience in his first T20I captaincy. The team was defeated by Ireland by 34 runs on Friday (26 June) in Belfast. After this, in the second match played on the same ground on Sunday (June 28), India had to face defeat by 1 run in a thrilling match. After two consecutive defeats against Ireland, Iyer has joined the unwanted list.
Iyer became the second such captain after Pant
Mumbai’s 31-year-old right-handed batsman Shreyas Iyer has become only the second player for the Indian men’s team to lose his first two T20Is as captain. Before him, the same thing had happened with Rishabh Pant also. Pant captained India for the first time in the home T20I series against South Africa in June 2022. The team had lost the first two matches of that 5-match series.
Shreyaar Iyer was a flop in Ireland
For Iyer, the only captain who has taken three different IPL franchises to the finals, this series was also disappointing in terms of batting. In the first T20I, he scored only 3 runs in 7 balls. In the second match, batting at number 4, he could score only 10 runs in 7 balls. The first T20I loss under Iyer’s captaincy was India’s first defeat in international cricket against Ireland. With the 1-run defeat on Sunday, India lost a T20I series against Ireland for the first time. With this, India’s wonderful streak of winning 16 consecutive T20I series was also broken.
After this poor start as T20I captain, Iyer will now hope to bounce back in the 5-match T20I series against England. The Indian men’s team will tour England next week, where it will play 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. In the T20I series, the command of the team will remain in the hands of Shreyas Iyer. This series will start from July 1 in Chester-le-Street. At the same time, Shubman Gill will captain India in the ODI series.
The selectors have retained the same squad for both Ireland and England T20I series. Now it remains to be seen what changes the team management makes in the playing XI. Meanwhile, the demand to include 15 year old Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the team has also intensified. This young player can make his debut for India during the England tour.
