New Delhi. Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer was seen avoiding saying much about his injury after the spectacular win against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday (31 March). His right hand was seriously injured during the match. Iyer just said in a joking tone that his hand is 'fine' and he does not want to 'show it'. This indicated that perhaps the injury was not as deep as it seemed.
How did you get injured?
This incident happened in the 12th over of Punjab's batting. Cooper Connolly hit a strong straight drive off Rashid Khan, which Iyer could not remove in time and the ball went straight to his hand. He was seen writhing in pain and had to immediately use an ice pack. Shortly after this he was also out. After the match, Iyer said, 'The hand is fine, that's all I can say.' It is the same as it was before. I don't want to look at it.

Match situation and Connolly's amazing performance
After Iyer's dismissal, the Punjab team faltered and three wickets fell in the next two overs. But Cooper Connolly, playing his first IPL match, did not lose courage. He led the team to victory by playing an unbeaten inning of 72 runs in 44 balls. Praising Connolly, Iyer said, 'Connolly played some wonderful shots. While I was inside warming my hands with ice, we lost two wickets in a row. This happens in IPL, but Connolly remained calm.
Gill laid 'special' fielding for Iyer
When Shreyas Iyer came to bat, Gujarat captain Shubman Gill placed a fielder at 'short leg' for him. Iyer is known for his short-ball weakness, but this type of fielding was new for him in the IPL. Iyer said, 'I told Shubman that I have never seen anything like this (in IPL) before. It is good to see captains arranging aggressive fielding like this.
