New Delhi. Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Lahore Qalandars has imposed a heavy fine on captain Shaheen Afridi. A case was pending against him for violation of security protocols in the team hotel. After its internal investigation, on March 28, PCB imposed a fine of 10 lakh Pakistani rupees on Shaheen Afridi. Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe, who plays for Lahore Qalandars team, was also involved in this incident. According to reports, four unauthorized guests were not allowed to go to the players' floor in the hotel, even though a formal request was made to the security officials and the PCB.

The report said that Shaheen Afridi and Sikandar Raza ignored the advice of the security personnel and took the guests to the hotel room. They stayed for at least three hours which was against security rules. After the incident came to light, Lahore Qalandars issued a statement in which they said that a heavy fine will be imposed on Shaheen Afridi. The efforts of the security personnel present at the hotel were appreciated, who helped in maintaining a safe environment for the players.

“In the interest of maintaining discipline and demonstrating accountability, the franchise has voluntarily and proactively imposed a fine of Pakistani Rupees 10 lakh on Shaheen Shah Afridi for his involvement. Lahore Qalandars has formally forwarded its detailed response and comments on this matter to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The franchise sincerely appreciates the efforts of the security personnel, given their vital role in ensuring a safe environment for players, officials and spectators,” the statement said. Also clarified that this incident happened due to any misunderstanding and not for deliberate violation of rules. Lahore Qalandars reiterated full respect for all security protocols.
