Samson completed his century in 52 balls, which is the fastest century of his IPL career. Also, this is the first time that he has scored a century while playing for Chennai Super Kings in IPL.

Sanju Samson has scored the first century in IPL 2026. Earlier, the highest score of the current season was in the name of KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals, who played an inning of 92 runs. Apart from him, Sameer Rizvi of Delhi had also scored 90 runs, but the first century has been added to the name of Samson.

Sanju Samson completed his century in 52 balls in the match against Delhi Capitals. This is his personally fastest IPL century. Till now, his fastest century came in 54 balls, which he scored against Punjab Kings while playing for Rajasthan Royals in the 2019 season.
This is also the fifth fastest century for Chennai Super Kings in IPL. The record of scoring the fastest century for CSK is in the name of Murali Vijay, who scored a century in 46 balls against Rajasthan Royals in 2010. This record has been in the name of Murali Vijay for the last 16 years.
Samson was surrounded by criticism
Sanju Samson was under criticism till now, because till now his scores in 3 innings for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026 were 6, 7 and 9 runs. Samson was being criticized for scoring only 22 runs in three innings. But by playing a century against Delhi Capitals, he has silenced his critics.
