Speculations about Rohit Sharma’s retirement intensify

London: The last match of the three-match ODI series against England at Lord’s on July 19 could also be the last match of Rohit Sharma’s international career. If media reports are to be believed, the selectors and head coach Gautam Gambhir have told Rohit Sharma that now the team management has started looking beyond him and youngsters will be given a chance in his place in the ODI World Cup 2027. Although there has been no statement of any kind from BCCI or Rohit Sharma on the whole news, but the parents of the former captain have reached London from India.

as many words as there are words
According to a viral post on social media, Gautam Gambhir and the team management had made their plans for the 2027 World Cup during the IPL itself. Before IPL, Yashasvi Jaiswal was being considered as Rohit Sharma’s backup, but after IPL he abandoned this idea. Gambhir and the management have made it clear to Rohit that he is part of their plans for the 2027 World Cup, that is why he is still with the team in England. Same thing happened with Ravindra Jadeja. After the IPL, he was told that he was not included in the plans for 2027, and hence since then he is not a part of the ODI team.

Selection committee eyes 2027 World Cup
Rohit is 39 years old, so the management believes that it would not be right to keep him in the team till the next big tournament, because by then he would be more than 40 years old. The management now wants to give young talent and in-form Yashasvi Jaiswal a chance to play in this format for a long time so that he can get the necessary international experience.

Current form is Rohit Sharma’s biggest enemy
Rohit Sharma’s future was to be discussed during the home series against Afghanistan at the beginning of the year, but Rohit’s poor form on the current tour of England forced this decision to be taken quickly. ‘Hitman’, famous for his aggressive and smooth batting, was seen struggling in foreign conditions. In the first two matches of the series, he could score only 11 and 26 runs respectively. Due to this lack of rhythm, the selectors formally told Rohit that they were moving on from him after the England tour. However, the final decision of retirement has been left to him.
