New Delhi. Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir are currently in the news for different reasons. On one hand, Uthappa has given birth to a new debate by choosing his all-time India ODI XI. On the other hand, Team India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir is adopting a big and positive stance towards captain Rohit Sharma. Team India’s head coach Gambhir has advised Rohit to play his natural aggressive game with complete freedom, free from the pressure of the 2027 World Cup. Rohit is currently playing ODI series in England.
Former Indian batsman Robin Uthappa chose his all-time favorite Indian ODI team through a ‘This and That’ challenge on social media platform Instagram. The surprising thing is that Rohit Sharma, one of India’s most aggressive and successful openers, has not got a place in this dream team of Uthappa. Rohit is India’s third highest run-scorer in ODI cricket, but in his place, Uthappa expressed confidence in the two most successful openers in the team’s history.

Strong batting order and Dhoni’s captaincy
Robin Uthappa has handed over the responsibility of opening his team to the historic pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly. From a statistical point of view, this decision appears strong. Sachin Tendulkar is the most successful batsman in ODI history with 18,426 runs in his name. Whereas Sourav Ganguly, who recently joined the ICC Hall of Fame, has scored 11,221 runs in 308 matches. At number 3, Uthappa without any doubt chose King Virat Kohli, who is the player who has scored the most centuries (54) in ODIs. To strengthen the middle order, he kept Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni. Dhoni has also been chosen as the wicketkeeper and captain of this team, under whose captaincy India won the 2011 World Cup. To give depth to the batting at number six, Uthappa included Suresh Raina in the team.
Bowling and all-rounder department
As a fast bowling all-rounder, Uthappa has given preference to 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev over Hardik Pandya. Ravindra Jadeja made it to the team as a spin all-rounder by defeating Ravichandran Ashwin. Great leg spinner Anil Kumble was chosen in place of Harbhajan Singh as the specialist spinner. In fast bowling, Sultan of Swing Zaheer Khan and current Yorker King Jasprit Bumrah were given the command of pace attack.
