New Delhi. History had been created on the historic ground of Lord’s. When Rohit Sharma opened his bat on this ground known as the Mecca of cricket, the books of records automatically started being rewritten. He completed his century with a crisp four and with this he became the first Indian batsman to score an ODI International century at Lord’s. Rohit completed his century in 84 balls.
Earlier, the highest score made by an Indian on this prestigious ground was 90 runs, which was made by former captain Sourav Ganguly in the year 2004. That record of Dada remained intact for 22 years, but Rohit Sharma, popularly known as ‘Hitman’, not only left that figure behind with his magical innings, but also registered his name forever on the Honors Board of Lord’s.

‘Hitman’s bat defies age
It is said that players’ reflexes slow down with increasing age, but in the case of Rohit Sharma this proves to be completely wrong. With this century, Rohit has become the oldest Indian player to score a century in ODI history. While usually players at this age are planning their retirement, Rohit’s bat is becoming sharper day by day. His timing, ability to test bowlers and his stay at the crease are an example for today’s youth. When Rohit bats, it seems that he has half a second more time to play the ball than other batsmen. His innings at Lord’s was a perfect example of this class.
sovereignty over foreign lands
It is often said in cricket that it is most difficult for Asian batsmen to score runs in the conditions of SENA countries, especially England. But Rohit Sharma has completely rejected these claims. With this century, Rohit has made the all-time record of scoring most ODI centuries in a foreign country. He scored his 8th ODI century on English soil. In this matter, he has left behind great personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, known as the God of Cricket, and South African legend AB de Villiers.
The great empire of 51 international centuries
With this historic innings at Lord’s, Rohit Sharma has crossed another milestone in his international career. Now he has a total of 51 international centuries to his name, which places him firmly in the category of the world’s greatest batsmen of all time. Rohit’s mastery in all three formats of cricket is clearly visible from his figures. This is his 34th century in ODI. Which makes him one of the most dangerous batsmen in this format. He has 12 centuries to his name in Test whereas he has scored 5 centuries in T20 International.
