Rishabh Pant, LSG IPL 2026: Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant looks almost a flop in IPL 2026, both with the bat and captaincy. The team has won only 2 out of 8 matches. Seeing this performance, former Team India player Wasim Jaffer demanded the removal of Pant from the captaincy of Lucknow. Along with this, he also told who should be given command in place of Pant. Jaffer believes that the burden of captaincy is on Pant.
Who should be made the captain of LSG in place of Pant?
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Wasim Jaffer said, “I think a player like Rishabh Pant should play as a player. You can take the best out of him by leaving him free and tell him to go play and win matches. Don’t give him the burden of captaincy. I think Aiden Markram is a better captain. He has captained Africa well. He is mentally strong. I think he can bring out the best from the players.”
Jaffer further said, “But it doesn’t seem like that’s what will happen in reality. This is just my suggestion, but if I was there, I would do the same. Right now Lucknow looks completely shattered. It’s hard to know what to expect from them now. If I was in the dugout, the first thing I would do would be that Markram is the captain.”
Lucknow’s poor performance in the season
Lucknow has played 8 matches in the season. In these matches the team has faced defeat in 6. The team has only 2 wins. Lucknow is at the bottom i.e. 10th in the points table with 4 points and a net run rate of -1.106. From here it seems almost impossible for the team to qualify for the playoffs. The team has to play 6 more league matches. If the team wins all 6 matches, they will have 16 points. Even with so many points, sometimes it becomes difficult for teams to qualify.
