In the second ODI in Cardiff, he played a brilliant inning of 99 runs* and won the match by helping England achieve the target of 234 runs.
In the decisive match played at Lord’s, Root scored 74 runs* in just 48 balls. Thanks to his brilliant innings, England made a huge score of 387/3 and won the match by 27 runs and also won the series. Root’s total score in this series was 249 runs and he was not out even once. With this, he set a new world record for scoring the most runs without getting out in a bilateral ODI series.
