New Delhi. When Rajasthan Royals scored 225, they would not have thought that their team would lose despite making such a big score. But the brilliant innings of Delhi Capitals batsmen, especially KL Rahul and Pathum Nissanka, dwarfed Rajasthan’s score and registered a spectacular victory. Rajasthan captain Riyan Parag looked very disappointed after the defeat against Delhi. Parag told where his team made mistakes due to which they had to face defeat in the fourth match out of 10. Parag said that their bowlers gave away a lot of runs in the middle overs and also gave boundaries in every over due to which the team had to face defeat.

With the help of half-centuries from KL Rahul (75 runs) and Pathum Nissanka (62 runs), Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by seven wickets by achieving the target in 19.1 overs. With this win after three consecutive defeats, Delhi Capitals reached sixth place in the table with eight points, while Rajasthan Royals remained at fourth place with 12 points. ‘Player of the match’ for Delhi Capitals Nitish Rana scored 33 runs in 17 balls after the partnership of 110 runs in 57 balls for the first wicket between Rahul (six fours, five sixes) and Nissanka (33 balls, six fours, three sixes). Then Tristan Stubbs (18 not out in 11 balls) and Ashutosh Sharma (25 not out in 15 balls) helped the team win by reaching 226 runs for three wickets with five balls remaining.

This was the biggest successful ‘chase’ of Delhi Capitals in its IPL history. After losing the match, Riyan Parag said, ‘I thought it was a good score. A score around 200 was fine. We could have bowled better in the middle overs. Parag was out of the field during fielding due to injury. Yashasvi Jaiswal was captaining in his place.

Riyan Parag said about his injury, ‘Hopefully it is not too serious, it is a hamstring injury. I will take a break for a week, then everything will be fine. I don’t need to answer my critics. His eyes filled with tears and he said, ‘In the end, we lost the match.’

After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Rajasthan Royals scored a competitive score of 225 runs for six wickets, thanks to a half-century by captain Ryan Parag (90 runs) and finally a brilliant innings by Donovan Ferreira (47 not out in 14 balls). But the half-centuries of Rahul and Nissanka overshadowed Parag’s brilliant innings. Nissanka scored his half-century in 23 balls by hitting a four on the last ball of the power play. In this way the team had scored 70 runs in six overs without losing any wicket. Rahul completed the team’s 100 runs by hitting a six in the ninth over. In this over, Rahul added 20 runs to the team’s account by hitting two sixes and a four on Ravi Bishnoi.
