New Delhi. In the exciting match of IPL 2026, young fast bowler Abhinandan Singh stole the show with his speed and accurate bowling. He dismissed Sunrisers Hyderabad's dangerous batsman Ishan Kishan at a time when he was taking the match away from RCB's grasp by playing a stormy innings of 80 runs in 38 balls. Ishaan hit hard on an outside full toss ball from Abhinandan, but Phil Salt, present there, surprised everyone by taking a wonderful catch with one hand, showing the agility of a leopard on the boundary line.

This wicket of Ishan Kishan proved to be the turning point of the match, because he had established himself on the crease like Angad by hitting 8 fours and 5 skyscraper sixes. As soon as the ball went into the air, it seemed as if it would cross the boundary, but Salt made a long run to his right and dived into the air and made a seemingly impossible catch a reality. With this wicket, Abhinandan Singh made a memorable start to his IPL career and gave a big opportunity to the RCB fans to celebrate.

Ishan Kishan created history by captaining Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the opening match of IPL 2026. Ishaan has joined a very exclusive club along with the legendary Virat Kohli as he takes charge of the team at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru in the absence of regular captain Pat Cummins. Ishan Kishan has now come third in the list of selected Indian players who, after leading India in the Under-19 World Cup, have also captained the IPL team. Kohli had made the Under-19 team the world champion in the year 2008 and captained RCB for a long time, and now Ishaan has confirmed his place in this prestigious 'elite list' by taking the field against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday.

In the very first match of IPL, Ishan Kishan created a blast with both bat and captaincy. By playing a stormy inning of 80 runs, he made another big record in the history of IPL. Ishaan has now joined the special list of select legends who have scored 'most runs in the debut match as captain'. In this case, along with Sanju Samson (119 runs) and Mayank Agarwal (89 runs not out), Ishaan's name has also been registered in golden letters. By entering the club of captains like Shreyas Iyer and Faf du Plessis, he has proved that he has the power to destroy the opposition bowlers even in the face of huge responsibility.

In the history of IPL, there have been many talented players who captained Team India in the Under-19 World Cup and later became a part of the IPL, but they have not got a chance to lead any IPL team. This list includes names like Mohammad Kaif (2000), Ambati Rayudu (2004), Ashok Menaria (2010), Unmukt Chand (2012), Prithvi Shaw (2018), Priyam Garg (2020), Yash Dhull (2022) and Ayush Mhatre (2026). These veterans have left their mark in the IPL with their batting and experience, but many of them are still waiting for their 'debut' as captain.
