The halfway stage of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League has been crossed. Today is the 37th (CSK vs GT) and 38th (LSG vs KKR) match. Saturday was a historic day, in which Punjab Kings chased 265 runs and Sunrisers Hyderabad chased 229 runs. Centuries came from the bats of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and KL Rahul. Many players have impressed so far, but there are many who have not been able to perform as per expectations and if their team releases them before the next season, then perhaps no franchise will buy them in the auction.
Ajinkya Rahane
37 year old Ajinkya Rahane is in the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders, but his and the team’s performance has been very poor. KKR has won only 1 out of 7 matches. Rahane’s personal performance has also been disappointing, he has not even been able to open his account in the last two matches. After scoring a half-century (67) against Mumbai Indians in the first match, he has not been able to even touch double figures 4 times. If KKR releases him, then perhaps no team will buy him in the auction for 2027. This can be said not only considering his performance but also his age.
nicholas puran
Nicholas Puran is still 30 years old, but looking at his performance in IPL 2026, it can be said that hardly any other team will show interest in him in the auction. Puran, playing for Lucknow Super Giants, did not even touch double figures in 4 out of 7 matches, his highest score is 22 runs. He has scored only 73 runs in 7 matches. There is a possibility that LSG may release him before the next season, if this happens then it will be very difficult for him to find another team in the auction.

Jaydev Unadkat
IPL 2026 has also not been good for Indian fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat, playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He is currently out of the playing 11, he played his last match on 11 April. In the matches against LSG and PBKS, he could not take a single wicket and conceded 50 and 40 runs respectively. He has taken only 4 wickets in 4 matches so far in the ongoing edition, he took 3 wickets against KKR. SRH will back young players like Praful Hinge, Saqib Hussain, in such a situation it can be assumed that the franchise may release Unadkat, in such a situation it may be difficult for them.
Harshal Patel
IPL 2026 has also not been good for Harshal Patel of Sunrisers Hyderabad, he got a chance to play in 3 matches in which he could not take a single wicket. He is also out of playing 11.

Sandeep Sharma
IPL 2026 has not been very good for Sandeep Sharma, playing for Rajasthan Royals, which is why now the team is not including him in the playing 11. He has taken 5 wickets in the first 5 matches, whereas against Sunrisers Hyderabad he gave away 52 runs. If he no longer gets a chance to play in the playing 11 and is not able to improve his performance, then perhaps Rajasthan will release him after this season. In such a situation, it will be difficult to sell them in the auction.
