New Delhi. It is often said in the world of cricket that records are made only to be broken, but when a 15 year old boy erases 21 years old history from the pages, then it should be understood that a new era has begun. Khabbu batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Samastipur, Bihar created a similar ruckus in the final of the tri-series against Sri Lanka A. On the basis of Suryavanshi’s explosive innings, India A defeated Sri Lanka A by 66 runs in the title match and won the Tri-Series trophy. After winning the title, Vaibhav said that people do not know that I have played a lot of ODI cricket.
After becoming the player of the match, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi said, ‘I had not thought too much about the final. I just wanted to take full advantage of the first 10 overs and implement what I had planned on the field. When he was asked whether there was pressure on him after the flop in the league stage? To which he candidly replied, ‘There was no pressure, but I was trying to implement the plans which were not working in the previous matches. I talked to my coach about this and worked hard on it in net practice. Today that plan worked well and the results are self-evident.

Vaibhav made world record in Dambulla
When India A and Sri Lanka A teams faced each other in the final on Sunday, Vaibhav had left behind the failure of the league stage. He started hunting the Sri Lankan bowlers from the very first ball. First of all he targeted fast bowler Mohammad Shiraz, who had taken the wicket of Vaibhav in the first match of the series. Vaibhav scored 34 runs in 8 balls for Shiraz and forced their captain to remove him from bowling. Vaibhav was in such a furious form that he completed his half-century (50) in just 11 balls. With this, he created a new world record by breaking the 21-year-old history of List-A cricket. Earlier this record was in the name of Kaushalya Weeraratne of Sri Lanka, who scored a half-century in 12 balls in 2005. Vaibhav gave a befitting reply to his sledging by breaking the record of a Sri Lankan player on Sri Lankan soil.
Laughing at the lessons learned from the entire series and the questions raised on his ability, Vaibhav said, ‘I have learned a lot from this series. But people probably don’t know that I have played a lot of 50-over matches (laughs). There were different conditions, the pitches were different, so it was a little different and challenging to play, but it was a lot of fun and a great series for us. Even after making the world record of half-century, Vaibhav’s anger did not subside. He was intent on exposing every bowler of Sri Lanka. Seeing his explosive batting, at one time the record of fastest century in List-A cricket also seemed to be in danger.
India A won the trophy
Thanks to this explosive start by Vaibhav Suryavanshi, India-A scored a huge score of 377 runs after losing 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs. The Sri Lankan team disintegrated under the pressure of such a big target. Despite the brilliant performance of the Indian bowlers, Sri Lanka’s entire innings was reduced to 311 runs in 47.1 overs. India-A won the match by 66 runs and captured the trophy in spectacular fashion.
