Pakistani players may be banned from Major League Cricket.
New Delhi. Pakistan Cricket Board is once again in controversy. This time the matter is not about any bilateral series or ICC tournament, but about Major League Cricket (MLC) being played in America. A report has claimed that PCB is demanding huge amount in exchange for issuing No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the players. The allegation is also that this fee is not decided in advance or made public, but is told when the franchise has almost exhausted the option of changing the player. For this reason, some MLC teams have started considering not signing Pakistani players in future.
What is the whole matter?
According to PakPassion’s report, ‘A source associated with an MLC franchise claimed that PCB demands a fee of $ 25,000 (about Rs 24 lakh) for every Pakistani player, only then NOC is issued to him.’ Let us tell you that NOC is an important document, without which no player can participate in any foreign franchise league. Under the rules of the International Cricket Council (ICC), this approval is mandatory for playing foreign leagues.
MLC owners made serious allegations
According to the report, MLC franchise owners say that the real problem is not just the amount of the fee, but its method. It has also been claimed that the PCB does not provide information about this amount at the time of recruitment of players. This fee is demanded when the team has decided on the player and its options are limited. For this reason, some franchise owners have described it as extortion-like behaviour. The report also said that this issue was raised with PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, but the board replied that it was their right to demand such fees.
Only one Pakistani player is playing this year
Haris Rauf is the only Pakistani player in the 2026 season, who is playing MLC for San Francisco Unicorns. According to the report, his franchise accepted the fee demanded by PCB, after which he got NOC. However, other franchises are not happy with the process and are considering avoiding signing Pakistani players in the future.
Even after getting NOC, there is no full guarantee?
Another big claim made in the report is that even after depositing the fees, the franchise does not get full security. If for any reason the PCB withdraws the previously issued NOC or new approval is required, the fee may be demanded from the franchise again. This uncertainty is said to be the biggest concern of the MLC teams.
No statement came from PCB
At present, this information has been revealed by quoting media reports and sources related to the franchise. PCB has not yet issued any official statement on these allegations. In such a situation, the picture will become more clear after the board’s response to the entire controversy. However, if the franchises indeed decide to avoid signing Pakistani players, it could impact the presence of Pakistani players in the MLC in the future.
