NEET UG Result 2026: 1.15 lakh less successful candidates in NEET than last year, only 11.21 lakh qualified the exam.

NEET UG Result 2026: NTA has released the result of NEET UG 2026 re-exam. With the results of this examination, which was conducted again after the paper leak accused, the process of admission in medical, dental, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses will move forward. This time also lakhs of students from across the country took the examination, but many such figures emerged in the results which show a different picture from previous years. The special thing is that the performance of female candidates was better than that of males and the top scorer was also jointly achieved by two students.

These two students topped NEET exam

This time Aryan Gupta of Punjab and Panshul Bansal of Haryana topped All India by scoring 715 marks out of 720. Only 19 candidates across the country could score more than 700 marks, while 138 students scored more than 690. Of these top 138 candidates, 93 percent were NEET takers for the first time and 99 percent were between 17 to 19 years of age.

1.15 lakh fewer students were successful than last year

According to NTA, this time a total of 11.21 lakh students have qualified the exam, last year this number was 12.37 lakh. That is, this time about 1.15 lakh less candidates were successful, although the success rate was about 56 percent, which clearly shows that the main reason for the decrease in the number of successful candidates was low attendance. About 22.80 lakh students had applied, but only about 20 lakh candidates appeared in the examination. NEET re-exam was conducted on June 21 at 5,440 centers in 551 cities of the country and 14 cities abroad.

How many successful candidates in which category?

According to the data released by NTA, most successful candidates were from OBC-NCL category. This was followed by General, EWS and ST category candidates. 5.12 lakh candidates of OBC NCL category were successful, 2.91 lakh candidates of General category were successful, 1.59 lakh candidates of SC, 95,026 candidates of EWS were successful. Apart from these, 63,716 ST candidates, 3,666 PWD candidates and 303 PWD candidates were successful.

How many students scored how many marks?

This time the number of students scoring high in the examination has also come to light. There were 19 candidates who scored 700 or more marks, while there were 1,492 candidates who scored 650 or more marks. Apart from this, there were 10,160 candidates who scored 600 or more marks, while there were 90,780 candidates who scored 500 or more marks.
