There will be a delay in Dhoni’s return.

Chennai. Chennai Super Kings coach Stephen Fleming on Sunday said there will be a further delay in MS Dhoni’s return to the IPL after he re-injured his calf during a practice match. CSK have played eight matches without their old captain this season and Fleming said that initially there was hope that Dhoni would recover in a few weeks but now due to the worsening of the calf injury, rehabilitation has to be done more carefully.

Stephen Fleming said in the press conference, yes, he (ms dhoni) is very eager to return. But shin injury is very difficult. If he pushes hard and gets strained in his calf again, he may be out of the entire tournament. He said, so we hurried a little in the beginning and then in a practice match he strained his calf again. Since then he has been working hard. But there has been a setback so it is taking longer than we thought. But see, only he can take the best decision in this matter.

There will be a delay in Dhoni’s return.

Fleming said that Dhoni is working closely with the team physio. He said, he is working hard with the physio and doing complete rehab. We are just waiting for their decision. But all I can say and I am not taking it lightly is that his condition is improving and he is trying his best.

CSK will keep an eye on Dhoni’s recovery process with a five-day break before the next match against Mumbai Indians. However, from Fleming’s update it seems that the chances of his return are less. Dhoni is taking part in regular training sessions, but he has mostly restricted himself to throw-downs. Recently he was seen practicing wicketkeeping, due to which the discussion about his possible comeback intensified.
