Moises Henriques has played a total of 44 international matches for Australia in all three formats. He was one of the main faces of the Australian team for a long time, but after the year 2021, he did not get a chance in the national team. Seeing limited opportunities in Australia, he moved to Portugal, where he was born. Henriques shifted to Australia in his childhood.
3 year ‘stand-down’ period completed
According to ICC rules, to switch from a full member country to an associate member country, a player has to complete a ‘stand-down’ period of 3 years. Henriques has completed this period and is now ready to play for Portugal.
Portugal’s mission 2028 T20 World Cup
There is every possibility that Portugal will appoint Henriques as captain, under whose leadership the team is dreaming of qualifying for the 2028 T20 World Cup. Portugal’s campaign will start with the European sub-regional qualifiers to be held in Finland. This tournament is the first qualification stage of the 2028 World Cup and interestingly, the 2028 World Cup is to be played jointly in Moises’ old home i.e. Australia and New Zealand.
Have won 11 titles
This star has won big titles during his cricket career. He has won a total of 11 major titles including Australian domestic cricket, Big Bash League (BBL), IPL and Champions League T20. Henriques won the 2011-12, 2019-20 and 2020-21 titles for Sydney Sixers (BBL). In IPL 2016, he played an important role in Sunrisers Hyderabad winning the IPL trophy. Apart from franchise cricket, Henriques won five domestic trophies with New South Wales, including the 2013–14 Sheffield Shield, three One-Day Cup titles and the 2008–09 Big Bash. He also won the Champions League T20 twice with New South Wales (2009) and Sydney Sixers (2012).
