New Delhi: Indian cricket team’s emerging finisher Rinku Singh has once again returned to the national team. After being dropped from Team India on the tour of Ireland and England, he has been included in the squad for the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. With the return of Team India, a video interview of Rinku’s future wife, Priya Saroj, MP from Machhilishahr, Uttar Pradesh, is going viral on Instagram. In this interview, he told how he became friends with cricketer Rinku and then the matter reached the point of marriage.
In the viral video, Priya Saroj says on the question of marriage, “Papa was not ready for us to get married, because we have never had a marriage outside our caste, not even a love marriage. This is inter-caste. My first interaction with her i.e. Rinku was in 2022, when I had completed my law. My sister had a page on Instagram for chicken food, she had to promote it. So someone told me that we are doing it like this. Will promote him and he is a very good boy, he will listen and do it.”
Rinku messaged after a week
Priya Saroj was a law student in the year 2022. In such a situation, someone told him that a boy from UP plays good cricket and he would promote the page. While talking in the interview, he further said, “I was told that if they promote it then the page will run, because in the Covid time, we were thinking of starting something of our own, so that was the reason. Then I searched and at that time he had one lakh twenty thousand followers.”
He further said, “At that time, I had one thousand followers on Instagram, it was a big thing for me that he had 1 lakh 20 thousand followers. I just liked and left. At that time, it was IPL, while scrolling, I liked and left. I didn’t even remember that I had liked and left. After five days, the message itself came saying hi.”
Seeing Rinku’s message, Priya handed over the phone to her brother.
Priya Saroj told in her video interview that, “After seeing Rinku’s message, I gave my phone to my brother that I am not talking, I will not talk to strangers, you talk. So my brother talked for a week. At that time he did not get that much chance to play. I think he got 3-4 matches. But the last match which was in Lucknow, he had a very good time. So my brother talked for a week, then I came to know from there that Nitish Rana bhaiya is talking.”
Priya wanted to focus on studies
Narrating the entire incident, Priya said, “In the beginning my brother had talked, because there was no such intention of friendship with anyone. I was preparing for my judge, so it happens that yes, some celebrity has messaged, so let’s reply, we have to reply. My brother from here and Nitish Rana bhaiya from there were talking about that thing.”
Relationship was being considered for Priya Saroj
Priya Saroj further says, “When I started talking to him, I was not ready. I was pursuing my studies. I told him that look, our family is very simple. Everyone says he is a politician, but my father is very simple. He is looking for a government employee who may earn one lakh a month but the daughter should be happy and the boy should be cultured, good and different from the one you have. How can I explain to him? He wants a boy with a government job.”
Rinku gave guarantee of selection in Team India
After listening to Priya Saroj, Rinku Singh guaranteed her to be selected in Team India. Priya further said, “Rinku said that he will agree only if I get selected in the Indian team in 2023? So I said he will not agree even then because he doesn’t know anything about cricket. Then I said, if I become a judge, I can take my stand, right now I am not doing anything, so how should I take a stand for myself? But touchwood, if you don’t get noticed, his hitting 5 sixes in 2023, then selection in the Indian team.” Everything went so well then somehow Papa came to know about it.
