Importance of Kuldevi

Kuldevi is the protector of our clan. They are the basis of our family's happiness and prosperity. When we keep our Kuldevi happy, she protects us, shows us the right path and removes all the obstacles in our life and blesses the progress and progeny of our clan.

Family involvement-key to success

Family participation is necessary in the worship of the Kuldevi, because the Kuldevi is the protection goddess of the entire clan. When the entire family worships him together, its impact increases manifold. Therefore, try to ensure that all your family members participate in this puja. But in some special circumstances, if none of your family members support you, you can do it alone.

Kuldevi puja preparation and necessary materials

  • Red cloth- a clean red cloth
  • Trishul or betel nut – Silver trishul (or betel nut) as a symbol of Kuldevi
  • Asanas – Different asanas for each member
  • Bell- to ring during meditation
  • Food items – coconut, sweets, fruits
  • Pooja material- Roli, sandalwood, akshat, flowers, incense, lamp
  • Symbol installation – Invocation of Kuldevi

First of all, install the symbol of Kuldevi on a red cloth. If you have knowledge about your Kuldevi, then install her picture or idol and if you do not know about your Kuldevi, then you can bring a silver trident and worship it considering it as the symbol of your Kuldevi. Apart from this, in Kalpik form, a betel nut can also be worshiped considering it as the symbol of Kuldevi. Both options are valid and effective.

Complete method of 9 days sadhana

Remembrance of Lord Ganesha:- First of all remember Lord Ganesha and chant “Om Gan Ganpataye Namah”.

Guru Remembrance:- Remember your Gurudev. If there is no Guru, then consider Lord Shiva as your Guru and worship him and chant “Om Namah Shivay”.

Resolution:- Take water in your hand and take a pledge that you are doing this sadhana to get the full blessings of the Kuldevi. Take water in your hand and resolve – “O Kuldevi! I will recite Kuldevi Stotra throughout Navratri. You give me signals through dreams or fill our lives with joy, happiness and prosperity. We are in your shelter.” After taking the resolution, leave the water on the ground.

Offering food to the family goddess:- After resolution, offer food to the family deity. You can offer coconut, sweets, fruits etc. as bhog.

Recitation of Kuldevi Stotra:- Now start reciting Kuldevi Stotra-

If 5-6 people of the family are together, then everyone can sit together and recite the stotra while pronouncing it. This lesson has to be done 11 times. Where a man is chanting, a woman can ring the bell. Recite in a loud voice, so that positive energy spreads in the environment.

Number of lessons:- You can do this minimum 11 times per day, medium 21 times per day and ideally 51 times per day (as stated in the resolution).

Duration of Sadhana:- This sadhana has to be done for the entire 9 days of Navratri. Do it in the morning or evening and if possible both, it will be more fruitful. Both times are possible and neither can be done in the morning.

Sadhana concludes with Kanya Bhoj

After 9 days of worship, on Navami day, offer food to nine girls considering them as family deities. Call virgin girls aged between 2 to 10 years and feed them kheer, puri, vegetables etc. Give them gifts or Dakshina and seek blessings by touching their feet. Kanya Bhoj is considered auspicious and the family goddess is very happy with it.

Meaning: O Kuldevi, salutations to you. You are worthy of worship of the family, you are the mistress of the family. You are the mother who protects the clan and is the light of communal knowledge.

Verse 2

Vande Shri Kul Pujya Tvam Kulamba Kularakshini.
Vedamata, Jaganmata, Mother of the world, Well-wisher.

Meaning: O worshiper of the family, Kulamba, mother who protects the family, I salute you. You are the mother of the Vedas, the mother of the world, the mother of the people and you are the one who benefits everyone.

Verse 3

Adi Shakti Samudbhuta Tvaya is the total mistress.
Vishwavandyam Mahaghoraam Trahimaam Sharanagatam.

Meaning: You have appeared from the Adi Shakti and are the mistress of the clan. Worshiped by the world and Mahaghora Devi, I take refuge in you, protect me.

Trilokya Hridayam Shobhe Devi Twam Parameshwari.

Meaning: You are beautiful in the hearts of all three worlds and are divine. Salutations to you, the family deity who bestows blessings on the devotees.

Mahadev Priyankari is the benefactor.

Twadiye kule jaatah twamev sharanam gatah.
