KL Rahul and MS Dhoni

New Delhi: Indian team’s wicketkeeper batsman and Delhi Capitals opener KL Rahul wants to win five IPL titles like Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Rahul made it clear that without titles, individual achievements have no significance. Rahul, who recently overtook Dhoni in the list of highest run-scorers in IPL, underestimated this achievement.

Rahul told in a conversation with official broadcaster Jio Hotstar:

I didn’t even realize that I had overtaken Mahi Bhai. Personal achievements are good. This gives me confidence that I am moving in the right direction, but I would be most happy to win as many trophies as Dhoni. Cricket is a team sport. You want to win trophies. You want to be part of successful teams. This has always been my goal.

Special feeling playing in Chinnaswamy: KL
The right-handed batsman also talked about his excellent record against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, which he attributed to his emotional attachment to his home ground. He said, ‘I have thought about whether I have any special strategy for RCB, but I have not got the answer. Chinnaswamy is very special for me. I grew up there and whenever I play on that ground, I feel something different.

Praise for Vaibhav Suryavanshi
Rahul also praised the fearless attitude of India’s new generation batsmen and said how the young players are redefining T20 batting with their aggressive mindset. He said, ‘He is not afraid of any bowler’s reputation, be it Jasprit Bumrah or Pat Cummins. They just see the ball and want to hit it out of the ground.
