Chaitra Navratri Fair 2026 starts in Kaila Devi Temple

Chaitra Navratri fair will be held in Kaila Devi temple from 16th March to 1st April i.e. for 15 days. Lakhs of devotees come here on foot to have darshan of the Mother Goddess.

Many devotees perform padyatra carrying kanwar or flag. The temple trust and police administration have made extensive arrangements here for the convenience of the devotees. Ramps, 11 wheelchairs and 5 e-rickshaws have been deployed for the disabled and elderly. 12 emergency gates have been made for crowd control.

History of Kaila Devi Temple

• This temple is considered to be the family deity of Yaduvanshi kings.
• Kailadevi statue was established by Mahatma Kedar Giri in 1114 AD.
• In 1116 AD, King Mukund Das Khegi built a small temple here. After this, the Yadubanshi rulers of Karauli took over the responsibility of maintaining the temple.
• Raja Gopal Singh of Karauli rebuilt this temple in the year 1723. Along with Mata Kaila, the statue of Maa Chamunda ji is also installed here.
