JTET 2026 Application: A big opportunity has come for the youth preparing to become teachers in government schools in Jharkhand. School Education and Literacy Department has issued notification for Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test JTET Exam 2026. Through this examination, the path to become assistant teachers in primary and upper primary schools of the state will open. Enthusiasm is being seen among the candidates regarding this examination which is being conducted after a long gap.
When can you apply?
The application process for JTET exam 2026 has started from 21 April 2026. Candidates can apply online till 21 May 2026. Applications will be accepted through online mode only. For this, candidates will have to register by visiting the official portal jacexamportal.in. Candidates have been advised to read the notification carefully before applying, so that any mistake can be avoided.
Examination will be held at two levels
This examination will be conducted at two levels. The first paper will be for those who want to teach classes 1 to 5. Whereas the second paper will be for the candidates willing to teach classes 6 to 8. Candidates can apply for one or both the papers as per their qualification.
Qualification and age limit for recruitment
For primary level i.e. class 1 to 5, candidates must have passed 12th with at least 50 percent marks and also have 2 year Diploma in Elementary Education. Whereas for upper primary level i.e. class 6 to 8, it is mandatory to have D.El.Ed or B.Ed with at least 50 percent marks along with graduation. The minimum age to apply has been fixed at 21 years. Age will be calculated on the basis of 1st August 2026. This time special relaxation has also been given in the maximum age limit, due to which more candidates will get a chance.

Application fee and exam pattern for the exam
The application fee for JTET 2026 has been decided according to the category. General, OBC and EWS category candidates will have to pay a fee of Rs 1300. Whereas for SC and ST categories this fee has been kept at Rs 700. Especially for candidates belonging to weaker tribal group, a fee of Rs 500 has been fixed. A total of 150 multiple choice questions will be asked in this examination. The special thing is that there will not be any kind of negative marking in it. Candidates can choose Paper 1 or Paper 2 as per their preparation, while candidates willing to teach at both the levels can appear for both the papers.
