Jasprit Bumrah took the first wicket after so many balls, had to wait for 325 days

Jasprit Bumrah finally got his first success in IPL 2026. He dismissed Sai Sudarshan on the first ball of the innings. He got this success in his sixth match of IPL 2026. But do you know that Bumrah had to wait a long time for 325 days to take this wicket. After 146 balls, he has not got any wicket in IPL.

Wicket taken after 146 balls

Actually, Jasprit Bumrah’s wicket drought was going on since IPL 2025. He took his last wicket in the IPL against Gujarat Titans in the eliminator match of last season. In that eliminator match, Bumrah took a wicket on the fourth ball of the third over of his spell. Bumrah was not able to take any wicket on the last 8 balls of that match. This season, Bumrah has got his first success after bowling 138 balls. In this way he has got no wicket in IPL after 146 balls.

Had to wait 325 days

Jasprit Bumrah had to wait for 325 days to take his next wicket in the Indian Premier League. When he took a wicket in the eliminator last season against Gujarat Titans, the date was 30 May 2025. After 325 days, he took the next wicket on 20 April 2026.

Bumrah was waiting for a wicket for five matches in IPL 2026 and when the sixth match came, he took the wicket of Sai Sudarshan on the very first ball. Bumrah has taken 184 wickets so far in his 151-match IPL career. Bumrah has become the fifth highest wicket taker in IPL. He has left Dwayne Bravo behind.
