IPL 2026 playoffs scenario: This season of the Indian Premier League is going very bad so far for the team of Lucknow Super Giants. The team has played a total of 8 matches, out of which it has lost 6. In this too, it has lost the last 5 matches consecutively. The defeat in the Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders has made the team’s path to the playoffs difficult.

Lucknow Super Giants’ playoff equation after losing 6 out of 8 matches
New Delhi. Lucknow Super Giants team is not able to come out of its poor performance in the Indian Premier League 2026 season. In its eighth match on Sunday, 26 April, the team lost against Kolkata Knight Riders. The team had to face a heart-breaking defeat in the Super Over. Both the teams scored 155 runs in their respective 20 overs. After this, KKR’s veteran spinner Sunil Narine took two wickets giving just one run in the first three balls of the Super Over. KKR then won the match by achieving the target of two runs in a single ball.
This is KKR’s second win in the current season on Sunday, while Lucknow Super Giants have lost six out of eight matches. After Lucknow’s sixth defeat this season, their hopes of reaching the IPL 2026 playoffs have suffered a big blow. Currently, the Super Giants are at the bottom of the points table with just 4 points from eight matches. The team’s expectations have reduced but it is still in the race for the IPL 2026 playoffs.
Equation to reach playoff
Lucknow Super Giants will have to win all their remaining six league matches by a big margin to reach the playoffs. If Lucknow wins all its remaining six matches, it will have 16 points and can make it to the top-4. But if Lucknow loses even one of its remaining six matches, it will have a maximum of 14 points and will be out of the race for the playoffs. In the IPL 2025 season, Delhi Capitals finished fifth in the points table with 15 points and could not make it to the playoffs.
Lucknow Super Giants upcoming matches
Lucknow Super Giants will play their ninth match on Monday, 4th May against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Their tenth match will be against Royal Challengers Bangalore on May 7 at Ekana Stadium, Lucknow. Lucknow has already lost one match to RCB this season.
