iPhone Fold: This year, Apple is preparing to launch two of its big and popular products in the tech world, one is the new AI equipped Siri and the other is the much awaited iPhone Fold. However, in terms of AI and foldable smartphones, the company has lagged behind its competitors because today almost every smartphone brand is offering AI features and Samsung had started foldable phones in 2019 itself. Despite this, Apple is expected to bring some different and premium experience in this segment.
When can iPhone Fold arrive?
Like every year, this time too Apple is likely to launch new iPhones in September. It is believed that iPhone Fold can be introduced with the iPhone 18 Pro series. However, a completely clear picture regarding its availability has not yet emerged. Some reports say that sales may start as soon as the launch, while some say that there may be a delay due to production problems, which may push its sales to 2027.
Design and display
According to leaks, the design of iPhone Fold will be such that it will give a better experience when unfolded. When closed, it may look a little wider and smaller, while when opened, its look may feel like an iPad mini. It is expected to have a larger 5.5-inch external and 7.8-inch internal display.
For the display, the company can use Samsung’s latest M16 OLED panel which will be more power efficient. Also, the new hinge technology can reduce the crease of the screen to a great extent, making the screen look smoother.
Will Touch ID be available in place of Face ID?
To keep the design slim, Apple may abandon Face ID this time. According to reports, the company can provide Touch ID sensor in the power button itself. This change may be made due to the thin design of the phone as fitting the Face ID components can be challenging.

Talking about the camera, the iPhone Fold is expected to have a dual rear camera setup which may include a 48MP main and 48MP ultrawide lens. Telephoto lens cannot be provided in it. Apart from this, there is a possibility of getting a 24MP under-display camera on the inner screen and a punch-hole camera on the outer screen so that users can get better video calling and selfie experience.
Performance, storage and battery
For performance, Apple’s next generation A20 Pro chipset can be given in iPhone Fold which will be based on 2nm technology. With this, both the speed and power efficiency of the phone can be improved. The phone is expected to have 12GB RAM and up to 1TB storage. Talking about the battery, it can be provided with a large battery ranging from 5,400mAh to 5,800mAh, which can be the largest among iPhones till date. Also, it is likely to get only eSIM support instead of physical SIM.
Samsung Galaxy Folding Smartphone
Samsung can launch its next foldable smartphone Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 in July. This timeline is said to be similar to the previous model Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7. According to reports, this phone has been seen with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8 on a Chinese certification website. It is believed that this time the company can improve the charging speed than before.
Display and Design
According to leaks, Galaxy Z Fold 8 can get a large folding screen of about 8 inches while a 6.5-inch cover display can be given on the outside. Both screens are expected to have 120Hz refresh rate, which will make the scrolling and gaming experience smooth. Dual-layer UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) can be used in its folding display, along with laser-drilled metal support plate can also be provided for strength.
Performance and processor
In terms of performance, this smartphone can prove to be quite powerful. It is likely to get the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor which can make heavy gaming and multitasking very smooth. For photography, a high-end camera setup can be seen in Galaxy Z Fold 8. According to reports, it can be provided with a 200-megapixel primary camera which will come with a 1/1.3-inch sensor. Apart from this, a 50 megapixel ultra-wide lens and 10 megapixel telephoto camera can be available which will support 3x optical zoom.
