Indian T20 team captain Shreyas Iyer and head coach Gautam Gambhir were accused of deliberately not giving a chance to the young batsman. Now after Vaibhav’s international debut, BCCI Vice President Rajiv Shukla has given a befitting reply to all the critics. He said in clear words that there is no injustice to any player in BCCI and the one who deserves a chance on the basis of merit, definitely gets it at the right time.

‘You get a chance in BCCI on the basis of merit’
Rajeev Shukla while talking to news agency ANI said that congratulations to Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his international debut. He said, ‘BCCI does not discriminate against any player. An atmosphere was being created on social media that Vaibhav was deliberately not being given a chance, whereas this was not the case at all. Shukla said, ‘He had said earlier also that Vaibhav will definitely get a chance when the right time comes and now the same has happened.’

Came to the rescue of captain and coach
The BCCI Vice President also responded to those who were continuously targeting the team management. He said, ‘The captain and the coach were criticized without any reason. The team management took the right decision at the right time and this decision should be appreciated. According to him, selection is always done keeping in mind the needs of the team and the preparation of the player, and not under the pressure of social media.

Rajeev Shukla expressed confidence that Vaibhav Suryavanshi will make his own identity in Indian cricket in the coming times. He said, ‘This is just the beginning and the young batsman has a long career ahead of him. If he continues to work hard like this, Indian cricket can get a big star.

Vaibhav created history at the age of 15
Vaibhav Suryavanshi created history as soon as he joined the playing eleven in the second T20 match played against England in Manchester. He became the youngest player to play international cricket for India at the age of 15 years and 99 days. With this, he also became the youngest cricketer to debut in T20 International for any Test playing country.

Sachin and Piyush Chawla’s record also broken
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made two big records of Indian cricket with his debut. He left behind Sachin Tendulkar’s record of making international debut for India at the youngest age. Sachin made his Test debut at the age of 16 years 205 days and ODI debut at the age of 16 years 238 days. At the same time, Vaibhav created history by getting an international cap at a younger age than Piyush Chawla’s record of being the youngest Indian player to make his Test debut for India.
