New Delhi: After a disappointing performance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, India is going to be seen in action once again. The Indian team will take the field against England on Friday to play a Test match at the historic ground at Lord’s. After early exit from the T20 World Cup, India got more time to prepare for the Test match. This match will take place 142 years after the first men’s Test at Lord’s, known as the ‘Mecca of Cricket’.
The Indian team had earlier played a Test against Australia in March. The Indian team is practicing at Wormsley Cricket Ground. Head coach Amol Majumdar said that the team is very excited to play at Lord’s for the first time.

He said, “This is our first Test at Lord’s and I am lucky to get this opportunity.” I wish all the best to all the people associated with this test. This is a big opportunity and we are eager about it. He said, playing a Test match is like a dream for any Indian cricketer. I am sure every player wearing the white jersey tomorrow will be proud that they got a chance to play a Test at Lord’s.
Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma had opened the innings in the Test held in Australia and only they will get a chance here. Priya Punia has been replaced by injured Pratika Raval, who batted at number three in the ten-wicket loss to Australia. India has won three out of the last four matches against England and has not lost a single Test in England yet. For India, Harleen Deol, spinner Shri Charani and fast bowler Nandini Sharma may get a chance to debut.
Five new players included in the test team for England
On the other hand, there are five new players in the Women’s T20 World Cup runner-up England team which includes Alice Capsey, Tilly Courteney Coleman, Mady Villiers, Grace Potts and Ellie T. Opening batsman Tammy Beaumont has decided to retire from international cricket after this test. Beaumont, the second woman cricketer from England to score a century in all three formats of the game, scored a double century at Trent Bridge in the 2023 Women’s Ashes.
