At the beginning of the tournament, India’s concern was about the top order, but Smriti Mandhana and Shefali Verma have answered the questions with their brilliant performance. Mandhana has scored 159 runs in three matches, while Shefali has 92 runs in her name. Both of them have given a strong start to the team by batting at a strike rate of more than 154. The problem is in the middle order.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Yastika Bhatia have failed to maintain the rhythm. Due to which there is more pressure on finishers Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma. In three matches, Kaur and Rodrigues together have been able to hit only 11 fours, not even a single six. Yastika has hit only three fours in two innings. Richa and Deepti have definitely scored runs at a high strike rate, but they often come in the last overs of the innings, due to which their impact is limited.
Despite these shortcomings, India is in second place in Group A with four points and a strong net run rate. Big wins against Pakistan and Netherlands have strengthened the team’s position. In the recent defeat against South Africa, shortcomings in batting as well as fielding were revealed, where many easy opportunities were missed. On the other hand, Bangladesh is entering this match with confidence after defeating Pakistan and New Zealand. This team does not depend on any one star but on collective performance. This competition will not be easy for India.
