IND vs ZIM: Shreyas Iyer rejoiced after winning the first T20 series, who was given the winning credit?

New Delhi. India has won the three-match T20 series against Zimbabwe 3-0. This is Shreyas Iyer’s first series win as Indian captain. Iyer has described this victory as special. He also praised the performance of the young players in the series. After the series win, Shreyas Iyer said, ‘We saw how fearless the players are, this is a group of young players who are showing tremendous energy and determination on the field, especially when you play two games in a row. As a captain and a team, I need such energy. Even today they can do the same in two consecutive games. Yes, winning the series in Zimbabwe is a special feeling for me. This is going to be a special moment.

Lots of praise from teammates
Pointing to the high-level exposure that players get through tournaments like the Indian Premier League (IPL), Iyer said that I feel that on the basis of experience, I have played equal number of matches as all of them. There are many players who have tremendous experience because nowadays they also play in IPL.

He said, ‘Players have special talent and the best you can get out of them is beneficial for the team as well. Every time I step on the field, I make sure they are comfortable. Because only then you can get the best out of them. Iyer stressed the importance of maintaining continuity and courage for the team’s future challenges.

There may be a series between Bangladesh and Afghanistan
The Indian captain said that if everything goes well, India can also tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series and three T20s against Afghanistan in September. India’s next white-ball assignment is three ODIs and five T20Is against the West Indies. After this, Asian Games will be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. In the end, Iyer reiterated his commitment to continuously improve the team’s performance and play as per the standard set in T20.
