IND vs ENG 3rd ODI Lord’s: Indian captain Shubman Gill looked unhappy after the defeat against England in the second ODI. He said, ‘To be honest, it was a very disappointing performance. We thought after 25 overs that a score of 300, 310 would be good. We were in good shape. However, we lost too many wickets in the middle overs. Chasing the target, England won by scoring 235 runs with the help of Joe Root’s unbeaten 99 runs. The third and decisive ODI will be played at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The third and deciding match will be played at Lord’s Cricket Ground on 19th July. Batting was the main reason for India’s defeat in Cardiff. Except Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, no one scored runs from their bat. However, India put pressure on England in the second innings. At one time it felt that the team could win, but Joe Root pulled the plug and made England win by playing an unbeaten inning of 99 runs. Indian bowlers could not find a way to dismiss Root, which became a big difference between victory and defeat in the match. Root is the one person whom Gill would not like to see in the second match at Lord’s.
If Root had got the wicket, India could have won
The English team did not have a good start in chasing the target of 234 runs. Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna had sent both their openers to the pavilion with a total score of just 8 runs. From this start of Team India, it seemed that the condition of England was going to get worse, but the veteran Joe Root, who came at number-2, put the stake in the ground. We couldn’t get him to make any wrong shots.
India will have to remain cautious at Lord’s
Team India will have to be careful at Lord’s, because once again Root can prove fatal on this ground. He remains the highest run-scorer among active cricketers in ODIs at Lord’s. In 11 matches, Root has scored 466 runs with one century and three half-centuries. His ODI average on this ground is around 47 and strike rate is 80.

On the question of continuously losing wickets in bunches, the Indian captain said, ‘Our tail batsmen do not know how to bat much. However, I think we expected a little too much from our lower middle order and we were not able to take advantage of the start we got. Hopefully the next time we get there, we’ll try to form some small partnerships and move forward from there.
At one time India’s score was three wickets for 178 runs. On this score, India lost the wicket of Virat Kohli and after that it rained. Bharti was all out while adding the next 55 runs, due to which the team could not reach a big score. It is hoped that the Indian batsmen will not repeat such performance in the decisive match.
