England defeated India by 125 runs.
New Delhi. England registered a huge victory of 125 runs in the third T20 match, completely pushing India on the backfoot. Batting first, Phil Salt’s explosive half-century helped the host team score a strong score of 201/7 in 20 overs. In reply, the Indian batting completely faltered and the entire team was reduced to just 76 runs. Indian batsmen could not stand the lethal fast bowling of Joffra Archer and Josh Tong and England won the match in a one-sided manner.
Phil Salt played a strong innings
After winning the toss and batting first, Phil Salt and Jos Buttler gave England a fast start. Both added 43 runs for the first wicket. Salt played a brilliant inning of 70 runs in 44 balls, which included seven fours and three sixes. Whereas Butler scored 36 runs on 21 balls. After this, Harry Brook (16) and Jacob Bethel (13) could not last long, but in the end Sam Curran took the team beyond 200 by scoring unbeaten 41 runs in 24 balls. Will Jacques also played a quick inning of 14 runs in seven balls.
Prince and Harshit shine among India’s bowlers
Among Indian bowlers, Prince Yadav and Harshit Rana took two wickets each. Prince gave away 30 runs in his four overs and sent important batsmen like Jos Buttler and Harry Brook to the pavilion. Harshit Rana also dismissed Jacob Bethel and Tom Banton. Akshar Patel got one wicket, while Arshdeep Singh and Varun Chakraborty were not successful in taking wickets.
Team India disintegrated in front of Archer and Tong
The Indian team, which set out to chase the target of 202 runs, had a very bad start. Abhishek Sharma became the victim of Josh Tong after scoring 10 runs. After this, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, playing his second match of international cricket, scored 13 runs in five balls with the help of two sixes, but Joffra Archer did not let him last long. Ishan Kishan (13), captain Shreyas Iyer (5) and Axar Patel (10) were also out cheaply. By 52 runs, India had lost five wickets and from here the match was completely in England’s control.
In the middle order, Tilak Verma (3), Harshit Rana (9), Shivam Dubey (2), Arshdeep Singh (4) and Varun Chakraborty (5) also could not do anything special. The entire Indian team was all out for 76 runs in just 11.4 overs.
England’s bowlers wreaked havoc
The biggest hero of England’s victory was fast bowler Josh Tang. He took four wickets for 28 runs in four overs and broke the back of Indian batting. Joffra Archer also troubled the Indian batsmen with his pace and took three wickets for 29 runs in three overs. Spinner Adil Rashid took two wickets, while Will Jacques also got one success.
No one could cross the 15 run mark
While chasing the target, none of the Indian batsmen fulfilled the responsibility. No player of the team could even cross the 15-run mark. After losing four wickets in the powerplay itself, the Indian batting came under complete pressure and wickets kept falling continuously. However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi definitely showed aggressive intentions in his short innings, but he also went cheap.
