Duckett and Bethel added 192 runs for the first wicket. This is the first time in the history of Lord’s that the opening batsmen have made a partnership of more than 150 runs in an ODI. England’s opening pair also made the record of the biggest partnership for the first wicket in ODI matches between India and England. Earlier this record was in the name of Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow, who had added 160 runs while opening in 2019.
Biggest partnership for England
Duckett and Bethel also became the batsmen who made the biggest partnership for any wicket in ODI matches against India. He broke the record of 186 runs added by Joe Root and Eoin Morgan for the third wicket in 2018. Duckett and Bethel’s 192 runs is the fourth highest partnership for any wicket in ODI at Lord’s.

Indian bowlers had to yearn for wickets for 30 overs. Prasidh Krishna, who came in the 31st over, gave the first blow to England by walking Jacob Bethel on the first ball. Bethel missed the century.
