Vaibhav Suryavanshi told his game plan for IPL 2026

New Delhi: Indian cricket's young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is ready to make a splash in the Indian Premier League 2026. Vaibhav plays for Rajasthan Royals in IPL and this is his second season. Rajasthan Royals' first match in the 19th season of IPL is with Chennai Super Kings. In such a situation, regarding this match, Vaibhav has said that his aim in the current season is to dominate the bowlers and establish dominance in the powerplay.

The 15-year-old left-handed opening batsman had scored 252 runs in seven matches last season. This included a stormy century scored in 35 balls and a strike rate of more than 200. Such figures made him a big star of Indian cricket. Suryavanshi believes that after making an aggressive start in the powerplay, his aim now is to understand the value of his wicket and take the team's score beyond 200, so that it becomes difficult for the opposing team to chase the target.

My job is to give a good start to the team- Vaibhav Suryavanshi

He told 'GeoStar', “When I was selected, my only aim was to give a good start to the team. I wanted to play my natural game in the powerplay and if I got a good start, I wanted to play long innings while saving wickets.” He said, “I knew that if I keep playing my shots well, the match can turn around because chasing more than 200 runs is not easy for any team. Our target this season is to win the trophy. If we win the trophy, my and the team's performance will automatically come into the limelight and that is the most important thing.”

Suryavanshi, the youngest player to debut in IPL, also played a explosive inning of 175 runs in the Under-19 World Cup final this year. Suryavanshi also told that the two players who inspired him the most in his childhood were West Indies legend Brian Lara and India's World Cup-winning star Yuvraj Singh. Lara was famous for his match-winning Test innings, while Yuvraj Singh was known for destroying bowlers with his fearless shots.

Vaibhav considers Lara and Yuvraj as his heroes.

He said, “I have seen both Brian Lara and Yuvraj Singh single-handedly finish the match. If they stayed at the crease, there was no chance for the opposing team to make a comeback. This is what I liked most about them.” Suryavanshi's childhood coach Manish Ojha told that the most special thing about her when she came to the academy was her fearless, aggressive attitude and excellent timing.

He said, “When he came to the academy in 2018, it was clear that he had talent and a deep passion for cricket. He liked to play aggressively while batting and his timing was excellent. He used to play 400-500 balls in every session and would not stop until I gave him a break.”
