New Delhi. Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza is angry after losing two consecutive T20 matches against India. Raza says that as captain he is not able to contribute to the team with his batting. Sikandar said that he would not like to make any mistake in contributing with his bat in the remaining one match of the series. Thanks to the brilliant performance of the bowlers after the aggressive half-centuries of Ishan Kishan and Tilak Verma, India defeated Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20 and took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza praised the performance of the Indian team and said, ‘Our bowlers bowled well for some time, but India displayed excellent batting and skill. Our fielding could have been better. Chasing 220 runs to win, Zimbabwe’s team had an aggressive start, but after losing five wickets within nine overs, its defeat was almost certain. The entire team was reduced to 129 runs in 17.5 overs. Batting first, India scored 219 runs for five wickets. With this victory, Indian T20 captain Shreyas Iyer registered a series win as captain for the first time after two consecutive series defeats in Ireland (0-2) and England (0-4).
Zimbabwe captain Raza praised Ishan Kishan and said, ‘Kishan is continuously performing well. We get to learn a lot from him and hopefully our team will also become better because of this. As a captain in batting, I could not live up to the expectations of the team. I will try my best to perform better in the next match. Brian Bennett gave a fast start for Zimbabwe by scoring 32 runs in 19 balls. He hit a six and a four on debutant fast bowler Yash Thakur, but in his next attempt, wicketkeeper Kishan caught him. After this, the Indian bowlers did not give any chance to the host batsmen to recover. Ryan Burl (20) and Tadivanashe Marumani (24) did put up some fight, but no big partnership could be formed against the Indian attack.
The third and last T20 match of the series will be played in Harare on Sunday. Zimbabwe team would like to avoid clean sweep defeat by winning this match. India’s efforts will be to clean up the mess of the hosts.
