New Delhi. The ghost of the ‘Slapgate’ controversy of 2008 is once again haunting the Indian Premier League. Former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth has attacked Harbhajan Singh. It is alleged that the former off-spinner took advantage of the incident, which had thrown the first season of the tournament into controversy. Nearly two decades after the ‘Slapgate’ incident, Sreesanth has recently publicly criticized Harbhajan Singh over an advertisement. In this their old dispute was mentioned. The former fast bowler said that the tension had subsided with time, but the decision to turn the incident into a commercial completely changed his thinking.

This controversy happened during the first season of IPL in 2008. The clash between the two players after the match had created a big controversy. Sreesanth’s distressed pictures had gone viral on social media. After this, disciplinary action was taken, in which Harbhajan was suspended from the remaining matches of the tournament.

Recently, Sreesanth said that the thing that troubled him the most was not the actual incident, but its commercial use. He alleged that that advertisement earned a lot and he was asked to promote it on social media, which he refused. Sreesanth told Malayalam news portal ‘Mathrubhoomi’, “I have never talked about bhajji in any interview. This is the first time.”
