Meta Parental Control: With the advent of AI, many things have become easier for adults as well as children. Whether they want to understand a topic in a very simple way or take help in homework, AI is ready to help them. It can prove to be a useful tool, but it also has many dangers, which may be a little difficult for children to understand. In such a situation, parents are worried about how their children are using AI. Now to remove this tension, Meta has brought new parental controls. With this, parents will be able to see how their children are using AI.
How will Meta Parental Control tool work?
Currently this tool has been rolled out for Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. A new Insight tab has been provided in this tool, in which parents can see the topics about which their children have asked questions to AI. However, it also has some limitations. It will only have data for the recent 7 days and instead of questions, it will list the topics about which teen users have talked to the AI. Meta says that it has brought this feature to make the AI experience of teen users safe. Also Meta told that if a teen user talks about any sensitive topic then the AI system will not give him a direct response. Additionally, this topic will also be listed in the Insight tab.
When will this feature come to India?
Meta has just rolled out this tool for the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Brazil. It is expected that in the next few weeks it can be launched for the global market including India.
Notification will go to parents on asking such questions
Along with this new tool, Meta is also working on additional safety features. There is an alert feature in these. If a teen user asks AI a question related to self-harm, its notification will go to his parents. According to reports, Meta has also created a new AI Wellbeing Expert Council. Experts related to mental health, youth safety and responsible AI have been kept in it. This council will suggest ways to make AI safe for teen users and give feedback on features.
