At the same time, Gujarat has faced its second consecutive defeat. The result of this match played at Narendra Modi Stadium was decided after full 40 overs of play. The excitement in the match continued till the last ball. There were many occasions when it seemed that Gujarat would win and sometimes Rajasthan seemed certain to win. However, the decision of victory or defeat was taken on the last ball. Batting first, Rajasthan Royals scored 210 runs losing 6 wickets. In reply, Gujarat Titans batsmen could reach only 204 runs after losing 8 wickets.
Gujarat Titans had a strong start to chase the huge target of 211 runs. Kumar Kushagra and Sai Sudarshan together added 78 runs in 7.6 overs for the first wicket. Kushagra scored 18 runs. In the last overs, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada made a strong partnership of 43 runs in 30 balls, but they could not lead the team to victory. Rashid scored 24 runs in 16 balls, while Rabada remained unbeaten after scoring 23 runs in 16 balls. Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande bowled brilliantly in the last two overs. In bowling for Rajasthan Royals, Ravi Bishnoi took 4 wickets for 41 runs in a spell of 4 overs. Whereas, Nandre Berger and Tushar Deshpande took one wicket each.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals, who came to bat first after winning the toss, had a strong start. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi batted brilliantly and added 70 runs in 6.2 overs for the first wicket. Facing 18 balls, Vaibhav scored 31 runs with the help of 5 fours and one six. Whereas, Yashasvi played a brilliant inning of 55 runs in 36 balls. Dhruv Jurail, who came to bat at number three, appeared in excellent form and played an excellent inning of 75 runs in 42 balls. Jurail hit 5 fours and 5 sixes in this innings. Jurail along with Yashasvi made an important partnership of 56 runs for the second wicket. Shimron Hetmyer scored 18 runs in 8 balls.
However, captain Riyan Parag could not show anything special with the bat and he was out after scoring 8 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten after scoring 7 runs. On the basis of brilliant innings of Jurail-Yashshvi, Rajasthan Royals team was successful in scoring 210 runs on the scoreboard after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. In bowling, Kagiso Rabada took maximum 2 wickets for Gujarat Titans. This is the second consecutive win for Rajasthan Royals, while Gujarat Titans have suffered their second consecutive defeat this season.
