Along with the recruitment process, the Commission has also made major changes in the examination pattern. That means now candidates will not have to prepare for two optional subjects in the main examination.

In fact, many states of the country have already removed optional subjects from their state service main examinations. These include states like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Now Maharashtra is also taking steps in this direction.
