New Delhi. Indian cricket is currently going through a major change. At the center of this change is 15-year-old young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Recently, when the Indian team had to face a crushing defeat of 0-2 in the T20 series played against Ireland, only one question was echoing everywhere, why was Vaibhav Suryavanshi not given a chance to debut? Now when the Indian team is ready for the upcoming T20 series against England in Durham, the demand to include this promising player in the playing eleven has gained momentum.
Former Indian selector Sarandeep Singh has openly expressed his opinion on this issue and advised the team management to take tough decisions. Sarandeep Singh has expressed surprise at Vaibhav Sooryavanshi not getting a chance in the series against Ireland. Talking to news agency PTI, he said that if Indian cricket has to be ready for the future, then it will have to show confidence in the youth.
Former selector recommended for Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Sarandeep Singh said, ‘Vaibhav Suryavanshi should have played against Ireland only. The team management will have to see where they can fit him in the playing eleven. Sometimes tough decisions have to be taken to prepare the future team. This young player should have been given a chance by giving rest to some senior players. Sarandeep believes that the Indian team now needs to adopt a clear ‘rotation policy’. He stressed that unless you rest established players and give opportunity to new faces, you will not be able to develop bench strength and future match-winners.
Has created a stir in domestic cricket and India ‘A’
There is so much discussion about Vaibhav Suryavanshi, it is not without reason. This 15 year old batsman has surprised everyone with his performance. After showing glimpses of his talent in the IPL, the innings he played against Sri Lanka while playing for India ‘A’ caught the attention of selectors and veterans. Suryavanshi played a brilliant inning of 94 runs in just 29 balls while playing for India ‘A’ in Sri Lanka. In this innings, his fearless style and ability to dominate the bowlers was clearly visible.
Sarandeep Singh says that when a player is at the peak of his form, there should be no delay in trying him for international matches. He said, this is the right time to try him (Vaibhav), don’t keep him out. If you get a chance, include him directly in the playing eleven. Considering the excellent form he is in, this is the right time to launch him in international cricket. The way he is batting, he can win the match on his own.
Not just T20, but the power to become a player in all three formats.
Even though Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently being seen as an aggressive batsman in terms of white ball cricket, experts believe that he has all the qualities to become a long race horse. Praising his versatility, Sarandeep Singh said that Vaibhav is not a player limited to T20 only. He can become the future of India in red ball cricket also. At such a young age, Vaibhav is playing for Bihar in the country’s most prestigious domestic tournament ‘Ranji Trophy’.
‘Technology and learning ability’
According to Sarandeep, ‘He is very young and with time he can learn red-ball skills very well. He has amazing ability to play all three formats for India. The 0-2 defeat against Ireland has raised many questions on the strategies of the Indian team management. In such a situation, the first T20 match against England in Durham can set a new direction for Indian cricket. Cricket pundits believe that despite the presence of senior players, the inclusion of an ‘X-factor’ player like Vaibhav Suryavanshi in the team will give a new dimension to Indian batting. Now the ball is completely in the court of the captain and the coach. Will they follow Sarandeep Singh’s advice and hand Vaibhav his cap against England in Durham, or will the young sensation have to wait a little longer for his turn? It will be very interesting to see this.
