New Delhi. Pakistan’s legendary all-rounder and former white-ball captain Shahid Afridi was awarded the country’s second highest civilian honour, Hilal-e-Imtiaz, for his extraordinary contribution to cricket. President Asif Ali Zardari presented this honor to Afridi in a dignified ceremony organized at Rashtrapati Bhavan ‘Aiwan-e-Sadr’. With this achievement, Afridi’s name has been included in the list of those legendary players who have brought glory to the nation along with the game. He has become the fourth cricketer of Pakistan to receive this honor after Imran Khan, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis.
After receiving the honor, Shahid Afridi expressed his happiness on the social media platform ‘X’. However, there appeared to be a small technical error in his message where he addressed it as ‘Tamga-e-Imtiaz’, but his sentiment was completely clear. He wrote that it is a matter of pride for him to receive this honor from the President. Afridi described this achievement as not only his personal victory but a victory for the entire Pakistani nation.
