She achieved this feat in the match against South Africa during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Apart from this, Harmanpreet Kaur has become only the second player to play 200 matches as captain in international cricket. Before this, Charlotte Edwards was the only player. Edwards has the record of captaining in 220 matches.

New Delhi. Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur has written such a golden chapter in the history of cricket, which no great player of men’s cricket has been able to do till date. Harmanpreet Kaur has become the first cricketer in the world to play 200 T20 International matches in world cricket (including both men’s and women’s). She achieved this historic achievement by taking the field in the match against South Africa during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Even legends like Rohit Sharma and Paul Sterling could not touch this figure.
Women cricketers have gone far ahead of men in terms of playing the maximum number of matches in T20 International. While in men’s cricket, Ireland’s Paul Stirling (163 matches) and India’s legendary Rohit Sharma (159 matches) are in the top list, Harmanpreet has created history by touching the magical figure of 200. Overall, in terms of playing the most number of matches in T20 International cricket, Harman is followed by New Zealand’s Suzie Bates (184), England’s Danny Watt Hodge (183), Australia’s Ellyse Perry (177) and Smriti Mandhana (169).
