Zimbabwe Upset Bangladesh in Test Match: Zimbabwe cricket team has created history by defeating Bangladesh by an innings and 85 runs in the Test match. This is Zimbabwe’s second consecutive Test win. This is the first time in 25 years that Zimbabwe has won two back-to-back Test matches. Before Bangladesh, Zimbabwe had won the Test match against Afghanistan in 2025. Zimbabwe also registered its biggest win in Tests against Bangladesh.
Zimbabwe won only the third consecutive Test match.
New Delhi. Zimbabwe pulled off an upset in the only Test match played against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club, winning by an innings and 85 runs. In this match that lasted only for three days, the host team’s opener Innocent Kaiya impressed with the bat, while Taijul Islam from the Bangladeshi camp impressed everyone with his bowling despite the defeat. This is Zimbabwe’s second win in the last three Test matches against Bangladesh. Zimbabwe has won its second consecutive Test after the previous win against Afghanistan in October 2025. This is the first time in 25 years of history that the Zimbabwean team has been successful in registering consecutive wins in Tests.
Earlier, Zimbabwe had won consecutive Test matches in the two-match home series against Bangladesh, in which they won the series 2-0. This is only the third time in Zimbabwe’s history that they have won consecutive Test matches. Earlier in 1998, he had achieved this feat by winning against India and Pakistan.
Bangladesh got all four blows
After losing the toss and coming to bat, the Bangladeshi team was reduced to just 140 runs in its first innings. This team had lost its 2 wickets till the score of 36. From here, Mominul Haq along with captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto (19) added 77 runs for the third wicket and took the team beyond the century mark. Mominul Haq played an inning of 60 runs with 12 fours, but only 3 batsmen of this team could touch double figures. From the opposition camp, Newman Nyamhuri took the maximum 4 wickets, while Richard Ngarwa, Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans took 2 wickets each.
Zimbabwe made a big score
In response, Zimbabwe scored 410 runs in its first innings and took a huge lead of 270 runs. The opening pair of Innocent Kaia and Ben Curran gave a great start to this team. Ben returned to the pavilion after scoring 42 runs with 5 fours, after which Kaia made 54 runs with Brandon Taylor (17), while making a partnership of 107 runs for the third wicket with Brian Bennett, putting the team in a strong position.
Bennett was out after scoring 59 runs in 67 balls with 9 fours, while Kaiya played an inning of 140 runs with 17 fours. This was the first century of his Test career. Apart from these, Craig Irwin scored 60 runs and Wesley Madhevere scored 77 runs. For the visiting team, Taijul Islam took 7 wickets for 138 runs, while Khalid Ahmed took 2 wickets.
Bangladesh was in bad shape in the second innings also
In the second innings, the Bangladeshi team looked under immense pressure. After losing its first wicket at the score of just 22, Bangladesh lost three wickets for 46 runs. After this, captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto tried to get Bangladesh out of trouble by making a partnership of 61 runs for the fourth wicket with Mushfiqur Rahim, but the team was limited to only 185 runs. Shanto returned to the pavilion after scoring 30 runs with 4 fours, while Rahim contributed 34 runs to the team’s account. Apart from these, Amite Hasan scored 25 runs. Muzarabani took maximum 4 wickets from the host camp. Richard Ngarava took 3 wickets. After the only Test match, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe teams will play a series of 3 ODI matches and the same number of T20 matches.
