The 'famous' hero of India's victory... destroyed many records in one spellZoom

Prasidh Krishna took five wickets in an ODI match for the first time.

New Delhi. The Indian cricket team won the historic M.A. of Chennai. In the third and final match of the three-match ODI series played at Chidambaram Stadium, they defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets and won the series 3-0. The biggest hero of this brilliant and one-sided victory of India was the fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who completely destroyed the batting order of the Afghan team with his sharp and accurate bowling. Prasidh Krishna spread such magic of his wrist in this match that even on the slow pitch of Chennai, he rendered the batsmen helpless with his fiery balls. He bowled very tightly in his quota of overs, spent only 23 runs and showed the way to the pavilion to a total of 5 big players of the opposition team.

With this amazing and killer spell, the famous Krishna (Prasidh Krishna) has registered his name in golden letters in the pages of cricket history on this ground of Chennai. He has now become the world number one bowler to record the best bowling figure in any ODI International match on this ground of Chepauk. In this matter, he completely destroyed the fifteen year old record of former West Indies fast bowler Ravi Rampaul.

Prasidh Krishna took five wickets in an ODI match for the first time.

Earlier, the world record for the best bowling in Chepauk was held in the name of Ravi Rampaul, who took 5 wickets for 51 runs while playing against host India during the 2011 ODI World Cup. Apart from this, former Pakistan fast bowler Aaqib Javed also took 5 wickets for 61 runs against India on this ground in the year 1997. But today Prasidh Krishna left these two foreign giants far behind by taking 5 wickets for just 23 runs and made the all-time record of best bowling on this ground.

Prasidh wreaked havoc in the first 10 overs itself
Right from the beginning of this match, Prasidh Krishna was looking very aggressive and in rhythm. After the captain handed over the new ball, he started putting pressure on the opposition batsmen with the very first ball. Within the initial powerplay of the match, i.e. within the first 10 overs, the famous Krishna created panic in the camp of the Afghan team and by giving a total of four big blows one after the other, completely pushed their top order on the back foot. The Afghanistan team was trying to recover from these initial setbacks when Prasidh Krishna came in his second spell and completed his fifth wicket in the match by dismissing the captain of the opposition team Hashmatullah Shahidi. As soon as Shahidi was out, Afghanistan’s hopes also ended.

Ajit Agarkar’s 24 year old Indian record also broken
Thanks to his historic bowling, Prasidh Krishna not only established his dominance at the global level, but he also became the first Indian bowler in history to take a ‘five wicket haul’ for India in an ODI match at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. Before him, no Indian bowler could achieve the feat of taking five wickets on this ground. In this matter, he also destroyed the 24-year-old record of former Indian chief selector and fast bowler Ajit Agarkar. While playing against England in 2002, Ajit Agarkar took 4 wickets for 34 runs on this ground in Chennai, which was the best performance by any Indian on this ground till now. But now this new record of Prasidh has become a new benchmark for Indian bowlers on this field.

Joining the elite club of Manoj Prabhakar and Mohammed Shami
Another most special and rare thing about this magical bowling of Prasidh Krishna was that he sent the first top-5 batsmen of the Afghanistan team to the pavilion one by one. In the history of ODI cricket, Prasidh Krishna has become only the third bowler from India to single-handedly dismiss the top-5 batsmen of the opposing team in a single match. Before him, this amazing feat was first done by former Indian all-rounder Manoj Prabhakar against Sri Lanka in the year 1994.

After this, in the 2023 ODI World Cup, India’s most reliable fast bowler Mohammed Shami created havoc in the semi-final match against New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, dismissing the top five batsmen of the opposition team. Now the famous Krishna has also joined this very special and exclusive elite club of Manoj Prabhakar and Mohammed Shami. This historic win and the brilliant spell of Prasidh Krishna has proved that the future of Indian fast bowling is in very safe and aggressive hands.
