In place of star wicketkeeper-batsman Jamie Smith, now 22 year old young player James Rew is going to make his Test debut for England. Jamie Smith has been out of this match due to the birth of his second child, due to which James Reeve’s luck has suddenly brightened and he has got a chance to showcase his talent at the international level.

Earned name from county cricket
Born in January 2004 in London, James Rew has been performing consistently for Somerset in domestic county cricket for some time. This strong performance has now been rewarded by his inclusion in the England national team. James Rew was part of the England team in the 2022 Under-19 World Cup, where the team reached the final. He scored 200 runs in 9 matches of that tournament at an average of 40. James Rew has become the youngest English player to score 10 centuries in first-class cricket after Dennis Compton in 1939.

The year 2023 was the best for his career. He cemented his place as Somerset’s leading wicketkeeper and scored more than 1000 runs in the County Championship. During this period, he scored 5 centuries, which included the best inning of 221 runs against Hampshire.
