Elon Musk Elon Musk’s company Currently this app has been introduced for iOS users. Through this app, users will be able to chat, call and share files with their X contacts. This launch indicates that Musk’s strategy of creating an all-in-one app is now moving in a slightly different direction.
What features will you get?
In XChat, users get many modern features which include audio and video calling, text messaging, group chat and file sharing. Apart from this, keeping privacy in mind, it has been provided with features like disappearing messages, option to edit and delete messages for everyone, and blocking screenshots.
The company claims that there is neither tracking nor advertising in this app. Plus, it comes with end-to-end encryption and PIN security. Looking at these features, it is clear that XChat is preparing to directly compete with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger.
Available for which users now?
Currently XChat is available only for iOS users but in the coming time it can be launched on other platforms also. Benji Taylor has indicated that more new updates will be added to this app soon.
Glimpse of changed strategy
Earlier, Elon Musk was thinking of making X an everything app in which all the services like payment, shopping, messaging would be available at one place. But now the company’s stance seems a little different. Now X is working on expanding its services through different apps.
According to media reports, the company is also working on a separate payment system which has not been released to the general public yet. More new features can be seen in XChat in the coming months due to which the company wants to further strengthen its app ecosystem. With the launch of XChat, the race for messaging apps is going to intensify. In the coming time, it will be interesting to see whether this app can really give a tough challenge to a big platform like WhatsApp or not.
