Umpire forced Rahul Tewatia to change his bat
New Delhi. There was a lot of excitement in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League 2026. The match reached till the last over in which Gujarat Titans lost to Punjab Kings. Drama was seen in the last overs of Gujarat Titans' innings during the match played against Punjab Kings. Team's batsman Rahul Tewatia was stopped by the on-field umpire for violating the bat size rule. He was immediately asked to change his bat. Rohit Sharma's bat was also examined but he himself took out the bat from it after taking a gauge from the umpire and declared it suitable for batting. Tewatia also wanted to do something similar but the umpire corrected him.
This incident happened in the last over of the innings when Tewatia came to bat after Washington Sundar was out. Even before he could take strike, the umpire stopped the game and checked the gauge of his bat. This process has now become common in international cricket and has also been implemented in the IPL since last year. Tewatia's bat failed the gauge test, after which the umpire directed him to change the bat. This moment was later shared by the broadcasters on social media, due to which the incident came into discussion.
